Zamenhof to Michaux: 24.III.1907. English translation by Don HARLOW
Kara Sinjoro! Dear Sir!
La skriban manieron de nia mortinta amiko Javal mi tute ne aprobis kaj mi tion ĉi diris al li tute malkaŝe; sed ĉar li estis konvinkita, ke mia opinio estas erara, tial mi laŭ lia insista petado donis mian konsenton, ke li faru sian proponon, sed kun la kondiĉo, ke li faru sian provon nur en gazetoj ne esperantaj. Laŭ mia opinio ĉia parolado pri ŝanĝoj estus nun tre danĝera; ni devas atendi ĝis nia afero staros tute forte. I did not approve at all of our dead friend Javal's way of writing and I quite openly told him this; but because he was convinced that my opinion was wrong, at his insistent request I gave my agreement for him to make his proposal, but under the condition that he make his attempt only in non-Esperantist magazines. In my opinion all talk of changes would be very dangerous right now; we have to wait until our affair stands quite strong
Tre malĝojigis min la sciigo pri la malsano de Via filo kaj nepo. Mi esperas, ke nun ili estas jam tute sanaj. I am very saddened by the information about the illness of your son and grandson. I hope that now they have completely recovered.
Volu transdoni al Via tuta estimata familio mian koran saluton. Please pass my heartfelt greeting to your entire respected family.
