Gramatiko

-OS: This ending indicates that the act takes place at some time in the future (future tense). mi liberigos min por hodiaŭ = I'll free myself for today; Poste ni veturos per aŭtomobilo = Afterwards we'll travel by car.
-US: Indicates that the action could happen but is not likely to. mi ne dezirus longe resti inter tiom da viroj = I would not want to stay long among so many men; se estus eble = if it were possible.

Prepozicioj

PRETER: Beyond. la dua kuris preter la vagonoj = the second ran past the (train) cars.
PRO: For, because of, on account of. Shows a positive reaction to something. la homoj mokis, eĉ kelkfoje insultis pro la idealista laboro = people mocked, even insulted at times on account of (their) idealistic work.
SUPER: Above, over. la militkaptitoj faris el bruna pano super forta fajro = the POWs made out of brown bread over a strong fire.
TRANS: Across, on the other side. Ili loĝas trans la lago = They live over (on the other side of) the lake.
LAŬ: According to or along. Ili kantas la esperantan himnon laŭ la nova melodio = They sing the Esperanto hymn according to the new melody.
TRA: Through. tra la fenestro de la kupeo = through the compartment window.

Prefiksoj

DIS-: In different directions. Ĝi disigos nin por ĉiam = It will separate us forever.
RE-: Over again, back to the start. por retrovi la malproksiman amikon = to find the distant friend again; memori = to remember, have in memory; rememori = to remember, recall, bring back into memory.
FOR-: Away, distant. Kapitano Oba jam ne povas forlasi la ŝipon = Captain Oba can no longer leave (leave behind) the ship; ili foriras el la kafejo = they leave (go away) from the café.

Sufiksoj

-AR-: A (discrete) collection or group of the things described by the roots. homo = human being, homaro = mankind; vagono = railway car, vagonaro = train.
-AD-: Continual or repetitive action of the sort described by the room. babili = to babble, babilado = babbling, chattering; movi = to move (something), movado = movement, motion.
-EBL-: Able to suffer (or enjoy) the action described by the root. NOTE: DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT CAN CARRY OUT THE ACTION DESCRIBED BY THE ROOT; EBLAS DOES NOT MEAN "IS ABLE". forgesi = to forget, neforgesebla = unforgettable; eble = maybe, possibly.
-AN-: Adherent, member or citizen of. Kristo = Christ, kristano = adherent of Christ, Christian; sama = same, ideo = idea, samideano adherent of the same idea, fellow Esperantist.
-ISM-: A system of belief or practice. caro = the tsar, carismo = the tsarist system.
