Jen libro, kiun mi povas senhezite rekomendi al nuntempaj junaj usonaj aktivuloj.

This is a book that I can recommend without hesitation to modern young American (Esperanto) activists.

In this little work, apparently already a second edition, Russian-Esperantist bard Mikhail Bronshtein presents his memories about the important and interesting activity of SEJM, the Soviet Esperantist Youth Movement, from the sixties to the eighties. He presents this memoir in the form of separate chapters, each one with a single "legend" (topic), separated by suitable poems / songs written by him. Subjects are, among others The generation gap, the history of the "responsible secretary" for Esperanto in the monolithic SSOD, denunciations, pyramid letters, Esperantist campouts in the USSR, and many other things. In addition, Bronshtein mentions one or two mysteries that remain to be solved, for example where did the "nearly print-ready" manuscript of the Ukrainian Anthology edited by Andrei Borisovich Rogov, Bronshtein's teacher, disappear to?

There are rumors that the action-methods of the Soviet Esperantists have already begun to penetrate into the U.S. movement (it is said that, among other things, the now annual NAJT campout in the eastern U.S. was inspired by immigrant Boris Kolker, whose name Bronshtein mentions more than once). And Bronshtein shows how enthusiastic young people can effectively overcome difficulties. Agreed, the difficulties in the U.S. are different from those in the USSR of that time, but read this to get an idea of the feeling of elan among enthusiastic and competent activists.

The book is adorned with a glossary of unusual (often Russian-language) terms and a list of personal names that are mentioned. The language is generally the usual; I like the occasional use of correlatives in ALI- (aliel, aliuj), but don't like the appearance (twice) of gvidoroj (leaders; should be gvidantoj, possibly estroj).
